Тема: Глобализация: за и против

Задачи урока:

образовательные: подвести учащихся к определению понятия явления глобализации,

обеспечить более глубокое усвоение знаний по данной теме, обеспечить высокий уровень

обобщения и систематизации материала.

развивающие: формировать умение анализировать социальное явление с различных

сторон, видеть его как позитивные, так и негативные последствия; развивать умение

выявлять проблему, сопоставлять и оценивать различные точки зрения по спорному

вопросу, формулировать выводы; развивать коммуникативные навыки при работе в

группах, в парах, развивать познавательный интерес; развивать умение объяснять

особенности, закономерности, анализировать, сопоставлять, сравнивать.

воспитательные: воспитывать общую культуру, толерантность, чувство

ответственности за будущее планеты.

В результате урока учащиеся смогут:

− демонстрировать разговорную и письменную речь в общении по заданной проблеме.

− организовывать самостоятельный поиск, анализ и публичное представление изучаемых

проблемных вопросов (эссе, соцопрос, составление анкет, систематизация информации в

глобальной сети);

− критически осмысливать представленную проблемную информацию через личностный

опыт;

− работать в группе и развить навыки сотрудничества, проявляя коммуникативные

способности;

− саморефлексировать и выражать свое отношение к обсуждаемым вопросам;

Учитель:

Good morning, my dear friends. I’m glad to see you. I

hope you’re OK and are ready for our lesson.

To begin with, let’s talk about the subject of our

lesson and the tasks.

So, what is the topic that we’ve been learning for a

long time?

Right you are and now I’d like you to watch a piece of

video on the topic Globalization and then I expect you

to formulate the subject of our today’s lesson.

Well, let’s watch the video.

Well, what are we going to discuss at today’s lesson?

Globalization: for and against. So our objective today

is … yes, to prepare for the essay. We are expected

to do our best to write the essay successfully.

So, the vocabulary. The first exercise is very simple. Just

translate these topic words into English.

Now I’d like you to listen to two

young people from the European

Union and tell me if they are for

globalization or against. What are

the reason for their opinion?

The first speaker is a young woman. She is against global

processes. She is worried about customs and traditions of her

country which may disappear. Another reason for her opinion is

that multicultural corporations force out local businesses.

The second speaker is a young man from Frankfurt. He is for

globalization. He says that thanks to globalization he can travel

from one country to another, learn the culture of other peoples

and become more tolerant.

3. Разговорная практика. Работа в парах. Ученики строят диалоги о глобальных

процессах в мире в соответствии с предлагаемыми ситуациями: а) согласие с точкой

зрения партнера, б) несогласие.

Now I suggest practicing our

conversational skills. Please work

in pairs and discuss the following

situations: 1) one of you shares his

or her opinion for globalization

and the other agrees and gives

another argument. 2) one is

against.. and the other again

supports him/her. 3) one is for and

the other is against.

In my opinion globalization plays an important part

in our life. Innovations used by one country become

available everywhere.

disappearing. People speak English instead of their

languages. Etc.

I am for globalization. Borders are disappearing and

people can easily travel from one country to another .

- I can’t agree with you. Diseases which appear in one

country quickly spread to the others.

homework. I expect you to

demonstrate all your knowledge on

the topic and ability to express your

point of view, to argue and agree with

your opponents and in the end to

come to agreement .

Well and in order to summarize

everything that we’ve been discussing

at the lesson, I ask you once again to

name the main positive and negative

things of the process globalization.

Pros: Borders are disappearing. So people can travel all over the

world, get to know the culture of different peoples, their

customs and traditions, which makes them more tolerant.

Secondly, all the innovations, knowledge, information in

different fields are shared.

Global problems such as wars, ecological problems incurable

diseases are solved in cooperation and that gives an

opportunity to get better results.

Communication is instant with the help of modern means.

Rich countries help developing countries.

People have access to the world sources of information.

Cons: Cultural diversity and identity are disappearing. People

use English instead of their national languages.

Multinational corporations are going global but it’s difficult for

local businesses to compete with them, so they have to close

down.

Diseases appearing in one country spread quickly to the others.

Terroristic threat is getting more dangerous because of the

open borders.

IV Повторение структуры письменного высказывания в формате ЕГЭ в связи со

следующим домашним заданием.

Учитель переходит на русский язык и обсуждает с учениками каждый пункт плана

сочинения, акцентируя то, на что нужно обратить внимание.

На и.д. демонстрируется

Телевизионная передача -- ток шоу на тему Глобализация: за и против»

Host: Well, my dear friends, welcome to our OPEN STUDIO for yet another debates.

And the topic of our today’s discussion is Globalization: for and against. It is a widely

discussed subject in the world. And we are going to make one more attempt to find out

who is right: globalists or antiglobalists.

We have two sides of our discussion. On the right there is a team of those who is for

globalization and on the left – their opponents.

So who is the first to speak?

Globalist1: Let me start. I think that globalization plays an important part in our life

because… borders are disappearing and people have more opportunities to travel, to

get to know other people’s culture, customs and traditions. They begin to understand

other people better and they are getting more tolerant. It isn’t bad, is it?

Host: Well, who wants to object?

Antiglobalist 1: Can I have a word? I agree with my opponent in some way but haven’t

you heard about terrorist threat. Because of the open borders terrorists can easily get

into any of the countries. The latest events can confirm it. The same is about spreading

different diseases throughout the world.

Host: What would you say to this?

G2. Yes, it’s a key problem, and you can’t but agree that it’s easier to solve these

problems in cooperation with other countries.

G3. I’d like to support Diana. There are a lot of global problems that peoples have to

deal with together. They are ecological problems, for example: air pollution, water

pollution, forest destruction. Also, when scientists of different countries combine their

efforts, they get better results. And all new knowledge and innovations in different

fields are shared and used by everybody.

Host: Do you agree with this point of view?

AG 2: OK but what would you say about the fact that countries are losing their identity?

Cultural diversity is disappearing. A lot of people are already using English instead of

their national languages..

Host: . Well, what is bad about it? It’s great to speak English, isn’t it?

AG2: Yes, but they forget their customs and traditions. It makes the world culture

poorer.

Host.: OK, I see what you mean, but I want somebody else to share their opinion. Well,

Vika, what is your opinion about the fact that business is going global.?

G5 I think it’s a plus of globalization. When I was in Europe, it was easier for me to

browse through familiar shops, knowing what to look for and not wasting time on

something I had already tried on. I bought a jacket in Zara shop and they even promised

that I could exchange it in the same shop in Tula if I liked. To be brief (короче говоря),

when I was having lunch in MacDonalds, I felt at home although I was thousands miles

from it.

HOST: it’s really an advantage. Agree?

AG3: I don’t think you’re right. It is known that local businesses are closing because it’s

difficult for them to compete with global ones. So people lose their jobs. You do know

that many people of our town go to Moscow to work. And this problem is actual for many

towns like ours.

HOST: Well, sorry, but I have to stop our discussion, because the time of our debates is

coming to an end. To sum up, there are advantages and disadvantages in the process

of globalization and only future will show which of our opponents are right. Thank you

Script for listening.

1. I come from a little village in Poland. I notice how the world around me is changing

and it worries me.

I wonder how much our identity and traditions will change once we belong to the global

village, because they’re a very important part of our life. They define who we really are.

I also notice that international corporations often don’t have to answer to anyone, as

they have more economic power than many of the countries where these corporations

have their offices.

2. I believe that I already live in the global village. If you look at the population of my city,

Frankfurt, you will find most cultures represented. I’m lucky that I live in a city that is so

diverse and so open to international cultures. As Frankfurt is situated in the centre of

Europe, travel to other countries is very easy. Our Art teacher often takes us on

excursions to museums in France, Holland and Belgium. Every winter we spend a

couple of weekends skiing in Austria. I think this environment teaches us to respect

each other’s beliefs, religions, and points of view.
