Цели урока:
Повторение, обобщение и систематизирование учебного материала
страноведческого характера о Лондоне (активизация имеющихся у учащихся
знаний, полученных на уроках английского языка).
Стимулирование и мотивация интереса учащихся к изучению английского языка и
культуры Великобритании.
Формирование коммуникативной компетентности у учащихся.
Задачи урока:
Практические
Расширять знания учащихся о Лондоне на основе лексико-грамматического и
страноведческого характера.
Упражнять учащихся в умении задавать вопросы и отвечать на них
(диалогическая речь) устной форме. Упражнять детей в умении построить
предложение (закончить его).
Тренировать учащихся в применении лексики по теме в виде монологической
речи.
Активизировать применение учебных умений и навыков в нестандартных
условиях (видеоурок и урок-путешествие).
Упражнять детей в понимании речи носителей языка, звучащей в видеофильме.
Развивающие
Развивать творческую фантазию, память, внимательность, познавательный
интерес и инициативу в осуществлении речевой деятельности.
Воспитательные
Воспитывать у учащихся стремление к изучению английского языка.
Воспитывать уважение к культуре и традициям других народов.

Учитель приветствует учащихся и объявляет тему урока.
Teacher: Hello! Today we’ll have an unusual lesson.

Yes, you are right. So, the aim of our lesson is to get as much information about London as
possible.

Teacher: But before starting our virtual excursion along the streets of London, let’s find out
what places you would like to visit there.
You’ll discuss it in pairs. I’ll give you just 3 min to do the task.

Teacher: Open your eyes. Welcome to London. I want to tell you about my friend. She lives
in London. She’s got a very interesting profession. I want you to guess what it is. She meets a
lot of people of different nationalities from different countries. She travels by bus around
London every day. She tells people all that she knows about London. What is her job?

Helen: Hello boys and girls!
Children: Hello!
My name is Helen and I am your guide. Today we are going to visit some of the most famous
sights in London from our double-decker.Слайд № 3

Helen: Who knows when the first double-decker was built and how it looked like?
The first bus service in London was started in 1829. The first double-decker was built in 1851,
but the upper deck didn’t have a roof until 1930. And the passengers were given raincoats to
put on if it started to rain. In 1950 the first Routemaster buses appeared. Слайд № 4

Helen: I welcome you in London. As you know London is one of the largest and most
beautiful cities in the world. It has a lot of interesting historical and modern places to visit.
About 7 million people live here. London is more than two thousand years old.
Helen: Now we’re coming to the centre of London. The heart of London is the City. It’s the
oldest part of London.

This is the Palace where the Queen and her family live. If the flag is on the top – the Queen is
at home. Do you know this building?
Buckingham Palace is like a small town, with a police station, a hospital, a bar, a cinema and a
swimming pool. And how many rooms are there in the Buckingham Palace? Who knows?
Teacher: You know, Helen, some of our pupils have already been to London. They could help
you and try to work as guides.

It was founded in 1050. All the English monarchs were crowned there. Westminster Abbey is
also famous for many outstanding people who were buried there: Robert Burns, Charles
Dickens and Isaac Newton are among them. For a long time it was used as monastery and was
rebuilt by Henry 3. Let’s find the information about it in the Linguistic and cultural guide. Who

Helen: But our next stop is the Palace of Westminster, which is often called the Houses of

It is situated not far from Westminster Abbey. Do you know what « Westminster » means? It
means «the monastery to the west». Originally it was a small community around the monastery.
From 1530 the Palace of Westminster is the permanent place where the British Government
sits.

It is also called The Millennium Wheel. Do you know why? (It is called so because it was
opened in the year 2000 when one millennium ended and the other one started.)

It contains fine paintings, sculptures, monuments and works of art. This fine building was built
by the famous English architect Sir Christopher Wren in the 17 century. It took Sir Christopher
Wren35 years to build this masterpiece. Here you can visit the famous Whispering Gallery,
where the words whispered into the stone wall can be heard right round the other side. Let’s

It was founded by Julius Caesar and rebuilt in the 11th century by William the Conqueror
soon after he had invaded Britain and was crowned King of England in Westminster Abbey.

Teacher: Now let’s join two children called Emily and Max who go sightseeing in London
with their parents. Video (This is Britain, Oxford University Press, Coralyn Bradshaw).
While watching a film you have to do the task. Here are your activity sheets. Sign them ,
please. First, let’s read and translate the words. (учащиеся по цепочке читают)
Watch the film and number the pictures in the order you see them on the video. You should also
match the words with the pictures. Is everything clear?

правильном порядке. Далее под картинками учащиеся пишут названия
достопримечательностей Лондона.
