языку по теме "Динозавры" (Цикл "Exploring The World").

Цели урока:

1. Развивающая:

•

развивать интеллектуальные и познавательные способности учащихся;

развивать способности и создавать мотивацию к поисковой научной работе;

воспитывать культуру взаимоотношений при работе в группе, паре, коллективе;

Ход урока.

( До урока класс делится на 2 команды с помощью фигурок динозавров, вытягивая их из

коробки. Эксперты распределяются поровну в обе команды )

I. 1) Введение темы. Сообщение целей урока.

Учитель биологии:

Сегодня мы с вами вспоминаем и обобщаем всё, что, мы знаем о

древних рептилиях, а также узнаем кое-что новое. Где они жили? Когда они жили? Чем

питались? Поговорим об огромном разнообразии первых рептилий на земле. И попытаемся

ответить на вопрос: все ли так называемые динозавры были динозаврами? У вас дома, в

кабинете, в библиотеке есть много книг, рассказывающих об истории жизни на нашей планете.

Но оказалось, что информации недостаточно, чтобы ответить на все вопросы. Поэтому мы

приняли решение поискать ответы в англоязычной литературе. К сегодняшнему уроку вы

подготовили проекты о динозаврах на английском языке. И я думаю, что вы после нашего

урока сможете участвовать даже в международной конференции, посвящённой проблемам

изучения динозавров.

Учитель английского языка:

Of course, those who read some books in English at home and

who will work hard today, undoubtedly will be able to discuss such problems both in Russian and in

English. Especially our experts that will help us to find solutions of difficult questions. So we are

going to revise the information about dinosaurs, learn some facts and, moreover, examine your

knowledge. At the end of the lesson we are having a contest "The best expert in dinosaurs".

2) Речевая зарядка.

Let's begin. First answer some questions:

•

What is a dinosaur? Is it a reptile? (Yes, surely it's an ancient reptile)

•

What does the word "dinosaur" mean? (A terrible lizard, but they were not lizards, as

they didn't stand the way most lizards do.

Their legs came straight down from its body.)

•

How do we know about dinosaurs? (We learn about dinosaurs because, under

special conditions, some body parts and tracks

of dinosaurs were preserved in rocks. The

buried remains of dinosaurs give answers

to what they were like. Different footprints

have become fossils, which can tell more than

the shape and size of their feet, weight and

total size)

•

Where were the first fossils found? ( They were found in England)

•

How can we determine: whether a creature is a dinosaur?

(We should remember 4 important traits (features ):

1)

it lived primarily on land

2)

it lived between 225 and 65 million years ago

3)

its legs came straight down from its body

4)

it had special features on its skeleton, such as extra openings in its skull and special hip and leg

bones.

•

Are all ancient reptiles considered to be dinosaurs? ( Yes or No)

( Of course not as, for example, dimetrodon,

pteranodon and elasmosaurus.)

Project II. Geologic time scale showing the periods of existing of dinosaurs. A long strip of

paper rolled from one cylinder by students around the class to show the time distance between

our time and the era of dinosaurs and to visualize and compare the significant periods in the

earth's geologic history.

At last we have a great opportunity to check our knowledge. Previously you were divided into two

teams with the help of dinosaurs’ figures.

Task 1. Play lotto "Match a dinosaur". Try to match each creature with its description and

determine which are dinosaurs and which are just ancient reptiles. Name all of them. Do it as fast

as possible. Results should be written in this sheet of paper (1-F, 2-H, 3-G, 4-E, 5-A, 6-B, 7-C, 8-

D). After you have finished, give it to a teacher of biology.
