1.
Teacher: Good morning, children! I’m glad to see you! There are some guests at our lesson
today. Let me introduce them. (Представление гостей) How are you today?
Pupils: Fine, thanks! And you?
T: I’m fine too. You see, children, some days ago I went to my native town Nizhny Tagil and I
felt very bad there, I couldn’t breath. Do you know, why?
P: (Привожу примерные ответы учеников) As far as we know Nizhny Tagil is the most
polluted city in the Urals.
T: Why is it difficult to breath in big cities?
P: There are a lot of plants and factories in big cities. which pollute and poison air. They send a
lot of smoke into the air, so it’s difficult to breath. Environmental
T: How do the plants influence people’s health?
P: Plants and factories pollute and poison air. They send a lot of smoke into the air, so it’s
difficult to breath. Environmental pollution effects people’s health. They feel bad and fall ill.
T: And what about our town?
P: The air in our town is fresh because on the one hand the town is surrounded by forests, and on
the other hand there are few cars in Zarechny and there are no factories and plants. So there is no
smoke.
T: Are we lucky to live in Zarechny?
P: Yes , of course. But there are some problems in our town.
T: What are they?
P: They are: pet’s waste because people don’t use plastic bags when they take their pets for a
walk, litter in the forest and lake’s blooming.
T: You’re quite right. Our soil is polluted. Pet’s waste is a serious problem. Who has a pet?
P: I have.
T: Do you use a plastic bag and a scoop when you take your pet for a walk?
P: No, I don’t.
T: And nobody does. Do you swim in the lake?
P: Yes, I do. (No, I don’t)
T: As for me I can’t swim in our lake because of its blooming. And what about our forests? Do
you like walking in the forest?
P: Yes, I do. And you?
T: I don’t. Because of the litter. So I can’t help mentioning the fact that there is a Nuclear Plant in
our town. What can you say about nuclear pollution in our town?
P: There is a nuclear plant in Zarechny and as we know nuclear plants can go wrong and cause
nuclear pollution.
T: And what is the result of it?
P: Nuclear pollution can not be seen but its effects can be terrible.
T: Is it dangerous to live not far from the Nuclear Plant?
P: They say it is not dangerous, it won’t go wrong because highly qualified specialists work there
and a new pollution control system has been installed at it.
T: So today we’re discussing environmental problems . It’s the topic of our lesson today.
T: Do you agree that we should solve these problems and begin with the place we live in?
P: Certainly.
T: Look at the blackboard, children. Here is the poem. The last line is missed. Now I’ll read the
poem. Listen to it carefully.
If you want the life be cool,
Like a full of colour picture,
Don’t forget one golden rule:

T:Can you name the most serious environmental problems?
P: As we know the most serious environmental problems are:
-air, water and nuclear pollution;
-noise from cars, buses and plants;
-destruction of wildlife;
-shortage of natural resources;
-the growth of population.
T: We don't have enough time to speak about all of them, so let's discuss only three today: air
pollution, water pollution and destruction of wildlife. At the previous lesson I divided you into 3
groups and gave you these problems for discussion. Your home task was to find information and
make reports. Now it’s time to listen to your reports. Tell us about the problem in brief and give
your suggestions how we can solve these problems.
T: Thank you, well done! As we know there are a lot of environmental organizations in the
world. Can you name any of them?
P: The Green Peace organization, Friends of the Earth, the World Wild Fund.
T: What do the members of these organizations do?
P: The volunteers of the Green Peace organization work all over the world. The aim of this work
is to protect nature and to save the wild world.
T: Where can you see the volunteers?
P: Everywhere. When we watch TV, we see how they save ocean birds and animals from petrol.
They clean sea water from petrol and oil, which tankers leave after disasters. They are fighting
with companies which throw nuclear waste into air, water, land.
T: That’s right. The fact is that it is important to save nature because it is very fragile.
T: There are a lot of poems and songs about the beauty of nature.
Now I’d like you to listen to
the song of a famous American jazz musician Lois Armstrong “ What a wonderful world”.
Here are the words of the song, but some of the words are missed. While listening to the song
you should put the right word to complete the song.
sunny, faces, trees, bloom, love, clouds, roses, skies, babies, starry, hands,
learn, colours, sky

T: Let’s check your answers and sing it together.
T: Thank you, well done! You know some poems about nature. Would you like to recite them?
«Hug the Earth” by Lorraine Bayes
Walking along feeling free
Feeling the earth here with me.
And I love her, she loves me.
I hug the Earth, the Earth hugs me.
She is our fiiend,
We'd like to be together forever.
The Earth is a garden,
It's a beautiful place.
For all living creatures,
For all the human race.
Helping Mother Earth
We can peacefully roam
We all deserve a place
We can call our home.
“Wild Kingdom”by Jeanne B. Hargell
All woods are home to animals ,
So we behaved like guests.
We only looked and never touched,
The birds’ and rabbits’ nests.
“If I Were a Bird” by L.Cohen
If I were a bird,
I wouldn’t like to be
In a little cage
Where I couldn’t be free.
I’d want to spread
My wings and fly
Over the tree-tops
And into the sky.
I’d visit my friends
Who live very far,
Then I’d fly up high
And sit on a star.
T: What can you do to keep the Earth clean and healthy? You should be a friend to her.
Now let’s return to the beginning of our. Look at the blackboard, remember the poem and try to finish it.
What is the last line? What rule shouldn’t we forget?
T: So the last line is: Be careful with nature! What should we do to help hature?

1. Keep our land, air, water clean.
2. Make the world a better place.
3. Put litter away.
4. Protect the environment from industrial pollution.

4. Put poisons into water air and soil.
5.Turn our planet into a pile of rubbish.
T: Well, pupils! In conclusion, I’d like to pay your attention to the words of Galsworthy, an
English writer. He said: “ If you don’t think about future, you will not have it” Remember these
words.
Thank you for your work today. Your home task will be to learn the song “What a wonderful
world”. Our lesson is over. You worked hard. Listen to your marks.
Thank you! Goodbye!
